2004

2004.jpg The 7th annual Pegasus Cup was everything we expected and more. Close to 400 teams participated with two International teams coming from as far as England and Norway. The Isle of Man team from England was back for their third straight year, they participate in the boys u18/19 gold bracket and won the championship in overtime defeating a strong local team, Scripps United 2-1. The girl team from Norway, Haggedal, participated in the gu16 bracket and had the time of their life.

CYSA-South Clubs such as, So. Cal Blues, San Diego Surf, Nomads, Samba, West Coast SC and many others added to the already very competitive cup. This summer we had the highest number of State Championship teams.

2004-2.jpg Out of State teams came from as far as Cal. North, Washington, Arizona, Minnesota, Colorado, Texas, Nevada and Ohio.

Puma became the official supplier. Sponsors like Sleep Therapy, The Union Tribune and Henry's Market Place were back to support our event.

The Village was packed with action, the European Championships Semifinals and Finals were shown live on our big screen with large crowds attending and enjoying the great athmosphere. kids got the chance to test our 8 inflatable stations and also joined in the annual dance.

The educational soccer clinics were well attended and we would like to say "Thank you!" to all the coaches that ran those clinics.

Our annual "War of the Keeper" competiton keeps growing and this was the biggest attendance we had yet. Kids got the chance to compete against other goalies for the right to be called the best at Pegasus cup. Championship t-shirts and gloves were given to the champions.

2003

The sixth annual Pegasus Cup was the best yet. Over 400 teams participated in tournament and the level of competition was the highest ever. We are proud to announce that we are now one of the largest tournament in the Country.

trophies.jpgThis years tournament attracted State and Regional champhionship teams. Many out of State teams and top clubs from Southern California returned, giving many teams, the opportunity to be challenged and to play with the best of the best.

For the third consecutive year, we hosted teams from England and Mexico, and teams from 11 different States were represented.

Our second annual "War of the Keepers" event was a great success and our annual dance was moved to the Village with many players attending, having a great time.

The 2004 Cup will be as exciting as ever, we will offer more than just great competition, new this summer we will have educational workshops and coaches clinics directed by professional and college coaches.

2002

team.jpg The fifth annual Pegasus Cup was split into two weekend format for the first time in 2002 in order to assure that every team got the chance to play at the beatiful campus of UCSD and the chance to play on some of the best soccer fields in San Diego County. We split the Cup with the Under 8 to Under 14 playing on June 27, 28 and 29th and the Under 15 to Under 19 playing on the Fourth of July weekend. Three hundred plus teams entered the tournament with international teams coming from as far as England and Mexico. Out of sate teams from Washington, Hawaii, Arizona, Colorado, Northern California and Florida participated in the 2002 Cup. The village was extended to double the size with many activities and a variety of games and inflatables. Our first annual "war of the keepers" competition took place at the NCRA fields and World Cup 2002 games were shown on big screen TVs. Professional soccer players from the WUSA Spirit and MISL Sockers were on hand for autograph sessions.

This year promises to be bigger and better with many top clubs from Southern and Northern California committing to the 2003 Cup. Our college coaches list of attendees will also expend with many top Division I coaches making the trip down to UCSD.

We are looking forward to see you in San Diego for what many describe this, as one of the most organize, competitive, fun, professionally run tournament around.

2001

The fourth annual Pegasus Cup was a resounding success! 300 teams participated in the tournament and 12 different states were represented. Teams came from as far away as Alaska, Washington, D.C., and Hawaii. UCSD was our main venue with 11 excellent fields, and Hickman Complex and Hourglass (Miramar College) fields were utilized to assure top quality playing surfaces. This year, we welcomed aboard Diadora, one of the top companies in the world, as our tournament supplier.

Over 700 games were played throughout the 4th of July weekend. Professional soccer organizations showed their support for the tournament, and many players were on hand for autograph sessions. We would like to thank both the (WISL) San Diego Sockers and the (WUSA) San Diego Spirit for their support.

team2.jpg New this year was our annual dance (open to ages 14 yr and up) which was moved to the Muir Gym at UCSD from the Village. Many athletes were in attendance as food and drinks were provided, and fun was had by all! Our Village expanded with more games, inflatables, and the new E-Village Internet Center, with 20 computers, allowed participants to stay in touch with their families or just browse the web.

This year we welcomed out-of-state club teams such as: Blackhawks GU17/BU17 (Minnesota), RUFC GU18 (Mississippi), Leahi 84 GU17 (Hawaii), AZFC '86 Hammers GU15 (Arizona), SC Eclipse GU13 (Washington), AFSC Rowdies BU12 (Arizona), Alliance Sidewinders BU9 (Arizona), Snohomish United BU15 (Washington, D.C.), Alaska Goldstrikers BU16 (Alaska), '89 Alliance BU12 (Arizona), Frederick United Pride GU13 (Maryland), CDO Elite BU11 (Arizona), Colorado Extreme Impact GU15 (Colorado), and Maple Valley Marauders 83 (Washington).

The Pegasus Cup is now the second largest tournament in San Diego and with the overwhelming interest in the 2002 Cup (we anticipate 400 teams), will be one of the biggest tournaments on the West Coast. Because of our growth, the tournament will now be played on two consecutive weekends. The younger ages' weekend - U8 to U14 - will be June 29, 30, and July 1, 2002. The older ages' weekend - U15 to U19 - will take place on July 5, 6, and 7, 2002. Our World Cup Village will be expanding to double the size with more bizarre games, and the World Cup games will be televised live on our big screen TV.

2000

trophies-speaker.jpgPegasus Cup 2000 was an overwhelmingly positive experience just as it was expected to be! Over 200 teams participated in our third annual Pegasus Cup, which was three times the number of teams that attended our first Cup in 1998. This year, we welcomed many teams from out of state that included: from Arizona - AFSC Rowdies BU11, Cisco 88 Gunners BU12, CDO Ambush BU16, Tempe Storm GU14; from Colorado - ISS Stars GU18/19; and from Washington - F.C. Intrepid GU18/19. Also in attendance were many prestigious club teams from CYSA - South and North. In addition to the beautiful campus at University of California - San Diego, we were fortunate this year to be able to add the Hickman Complex, with five outstanding fields, to our tournament venues. Our Village was again a big hit with giant inflatables and round-the -clock activities for both adults and youngsters. Club flags from participating teams were displayed throughout the main venue, and on July 2nd, the European Championship final game was shown live on big screen TV. The 2001 Cup will be just as exciting as Cup 2000, and we expect almost 300 teams to participate. We also anticipate an "international flavor" next year with teams coming from Europe! The Village will expand to double the size with even more new and fun attractions! Pegasus Cup is the fastest growing tounament in the States, and we look forward to seeing you there. Come out in the year 2001 and join us in celebration of exciting youth soccer and a great 4th of July weekend!

1999

The tournament doubled in size with 140 teams participating in the event. We also added gold and silver brackets, welcoming out-of-state Club teams such as, Blackhawks (Minnesota), Albuequrque United '84 GU15 (New Mexico), GU17 Alliance Foxes (Arizona), and GU15 Alliance Impact (Arizona). All teams who reached the Finals were thrilled with the crystal soccer ball trophies that were awarded to them. The World Cup Village continued as an annual component of the event as the Women's World Cup games were shown on big screen TV's, and, on July 3rd, the crowd was entertained with a women's professional game and with music and dance provided by a D.J. A great deal of fun was had by all!!

1998

At our first tournament, we had 74 teams participating and welcomed out-of-state teams Cisco '82 and '83 Caos from Arizona. The tournament was well received by coaches, managers, families, and especially players, all impressed with the first class organization of the Pegasus Cup. Tournament brackets were filled with Boys' and Girls' teams with age groups from U9 to U19. Kappa USA became the official sponsor of the event with Power Bar, Pacific Bell, and Crystal Geyser adding their sponsorship as key elements to the success of the Pegasus Cup. At UCSD's NCRA fields, participants were entertained at our World Cup Village as families got to watch the Men's World Cup on big screen TV's while youngsters got the chance to play with fun and bizarre inflatable games, from the Human Foosball to the Giant Climbing Mountain.
